Application

Kenyan barley demand is dominated by:

  • East African Breweries (EABL / Diageo) — malting barley for beer production. EABL operates a domestic-procurement programme but supplements with imports during deficit cycles
  • Animal feed industry — barley as a feed grain
  • Specialty malt and brewing products

EABL's malting barley specification is strict — protein 9.5–11.5%, germination ≥ 96%, screening criteria — and origin selection is rigorous. Russian barley meets the malting spec where the producer is barley-specialised.

Compliance

KEPHIS permit; phytosanitary; fumigation; KEBS CoC; CO; COA; weight cert. EAC CET HS 1003 — per current schedule. VAT zero-rated.
